History
The company was founded in Cape Town (South Africa) on 8 February, 1994 with the objective of providing components for most aircraft types to major airlines. At the same time the idea was to fulfill functions of storage, merchandising and distribution. Despite the obstacles, the expansion of Aerotechnic was quick and efficient. After few months, a rapid growth begun, after one and half years growth culminating with a positive income and three years later the expansion was strong and regular and the stability was achieved.
Because one of the main policy of the firm was to "evolve as rapidly as the client demand", in compliance with high quality level of Aviation rules and regulations, the challenge was huge even though the competences and the energy of the directors and staff was a considerable asset for success.
Aerotechnic's principal activity was dealing of ATR and Airbus spare parts. The potential of the African market was quite interesting and provided Aerotechnic the opportunity to gradually evolve into the world market. However, it quickly became obvious that the expansion of the company will only go through decentralisation. In order to prevent irregularities in transactions, to reduce delays and costs from suppliers and to reach new clients, Aerotechnic-France was created on 9 March 1998, located in Toulouse (Airbus and ATR headquarters).
From this point Aerotechnic tried to apply an efficient task sharing; the French branch was in charge of the purchasing from all European vendors and handling European, American, North African, Middle East and Asian clients whereas, Aerotechnic Cape Town, became responsible of the purchase orders and request for quotation processing on the top of dealing out with African clients (except North Africa).
Aerotechnic-Germany was founded in 1 April, 2002 to collaborate with Aerotechnic-France on the European sales and marketing activities. The geographical and task sharing was improving the quality and efficiency of Aerotechnic's service. In the same quality objective, the Johannesburg branch was opened in January 2003 for conducting stocking and distribution operations for the South African operation.
Motivated by the success of these four existing outlets, the process of expanding the market was continued within the Asian region. In terms of potential improvement the choice was made to implement two new outlets; the first one in Singapore on 18 February, 2003 to cover the major parts of Asia, followed by the branch in Vietnam on 29 May, 2003, more dedicated to Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. The setup of this "triangle of exchange" is now running successfully.
The prospects will soon expand Aerotechnic to the US market. This branch will lead with the purchasing centralization and the assembling of material coming from the US vendors. This new outlet will also handle North American sales and marketing.
